Island Escape Cruises was launched in 2006 by founder and CEO Peter Bissett. Having always had a passion for the water, after selling his interests in Japanese Shipping Companies, Peter embarked upon designing and building a boutique 24-passenger ship to explore the beautiful waters around New Zealand. Spacious and indulgent, yet intimate enough to feel entirely exclusive, ‘Island Passage' incorporates many relaxed yet refined lounging and 5-star dining with guests receiving excellent service from our 10 hand picked debonaire crew.
It began in 2006 with summers in Auckland and the Bay of Islands. After several years of lobbying, Island Escape received a 20-year approval for operations in the exquisite World Heritage Fiordland National Park to round off our New Zealand cruising calendar. For the winter months (May to October) we call Tahiti our home. This is an area where I have been fortunate enough to spend a lot of leisure time and a group of South Seas Islands that I absolutely adore. For our guests, Tahiti rounds out a perfect small ship cruising experience.
A large percentage of our guests have travelled with us before and their continual support is not easily won. However, we provide an absolutely unique 24-passenger experience that simply is not available on larger vessels. They are seeing and are experiencing our destinations from a very close range and with supporting landing craft, helicopters, kayaks, paddle boards and experienced guides.
